about

1. "Hell and Heaven are within you, both gates are within you. When you are behaving unconsciously there is the gate of Hell; when you become alert and conscious, there is the gate of Heaven."

2."Then I saw there was a way to Hell, even from the gates of Heaven."

3."Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seamed with scars; martyrs have put on their coronation robes glittering with fire, and through their tears have the sorrowful first seen the gates of Heaven."

4."We are living in a world that is absolutely transparent and G-d is shining through it all the time. G-d manifests (him)self everywhere, in everything - in people and in things and in nature and in events... The only thing is we don't see it... I have no program for this seeing. It is only given. But the gate of Heaven is everywhere."

5."Day, like a weary pilgrim, had reached the western gate of Heaven, and Evening stooped down to unloose the latchets of his sandal shoon."

Come out, ye gifted kings and queens and hear my sad complaint:
No martyr is among ye now whom you can call your own, but go on your way accordingly and know you're not alone.

released March 31, 2023

Recorded on a Studer A80 24 track 2 inch tape recorded at Anacortes Unknown by Nicholas Wilbur from January 9th to 11th, 2023. All lyrics written by August Eliason.

G-d Unknown was recorded onto a 1965 Akai Roberts 770x dual tube amp reel to reel into a Peavey IIIB 16x2 channel mixer on a Scarlett digital preamp in the wilderness of Nowhere, Washington.

Special Thanks to Alexander Gregory Kent who was gracious enough to add spur of the moment overdubs onto Open Waters despite being over 1200 miles away. As well as Ben Goe who was willing to layer cello into several tracks in a tight time crunch for both parties.

Thank you to: Karl Blau (klaps.bandcamp.com) and Paul Benson (everendingkicks.bandcamp.com) for providing me with the reel to reel that recorded G-d Unknown, Phil Elverum (pwelverumandsun.bandcamp.com) for the gong I used with great intensity across the album, Kyle Bates (drowse.bandcamp.com) for the internalized inspiration behind the track "Down In The Valley" which started as me trying to learn how to play his song "Between Fence Posts" from Drowse's Light Mirror album, and Nich, Paul, and Allyson Foster's band New Issue for the inspiration brought on by their keyboard droning on their Chunk EP (hungryclouddarkening.bandcamp.com/album/chunk). You were all instrumental in the amalgamations that lead to my visions coalescing into some strange roll of clouds and meadows with the depths of Hell.

Special Mentions: Aiden Blau, Desi Valdez, Casey Adams, Tom Scully, Andrew Anderson, Alan Jones, Dave Abramson, Joe Trainor, Daniel Wefers, Thor Harris, and Kristof Hahn.
