This is a reissue/remaster of the debut Triage album, Paimon.
As quoted by Jorgen Lovehart: "beautifully violent" and noted as a rip off of Swans from Aden Lozar of The Sheen and Hexadactyl. Noted by Alex Kent of Sprain as "something special" and Kyle Bates of Drowse called it "spacious". Paimon drew a lot of conclusions from people.
But Paimon was never really anything necessarily. It was a gestation between myself and Aiden that carried onto Shel and Neto and melded as the culmination of what was 5 years in Contra being transcended into Triage. It was years of frustrated teenagers trying to get some idea of how to make music. It's not a perfect album. I personally can't listen to it at all, but it continually is celebrated as time continues to move on.
Paimon is both improvised and heavily structured and is both very life affirming and death embracing. It is loud and quiet, calm and destructive.
The influence here was the same I always have for music: transcendence. It was an extremely physical experience that often could temporarily transcend in a Bataille-an Erotism sex/death manner where perversion meets punishment in a middle and becomes a quasi-spiritual experience. If it was a bad set I would push harder to get to that experience resulting in some shameful spectacles like trashing venues and smashing microphones and various other embarrassing childlike tantrums. I have no rose colored glasses for my behaviors as I am often noted to be the one who does wrong and therefore always look at my life with a level of criticism. It was childish yet things that mattered would come through the bullshit even if it was a challenge in some settings. This band was only significant due to the musicianship of the ones around me: Neto Alvarado on bass (most of the time), Aiden Blau on guitar, and Shel Blau on drums. They carried this band and my behaviors notably ended this band (per my decree, of course).
We did not play many shows as Triage and we whimpered out of existence and I spitefully decided I was going to kill the band and form August which was intended to be some form of career suicide and likely was if only for a while. It was June of 2021 and I was not well mentally and I just wanted to alter my reality to make some difference. August really wasn't meant to be anything and until the third album I had regretted killing Triage but spitefully committed. Today I am okay with closing this book and saying that Paimon is the only Triage album and may always be. Every band member has their band that has done well. Triage never really was anything. But death is not the end.
A Matinee. Recorded at the HQ I often call homebase. Kyle and Lula provide a wealth of knowledge to be had. Both consistently impress me with their work and likely you will agree. August
A raucous adventure through noise, no wave, off-kilter DIY prog, and the absurdist side of post-punk from Pagan Athletes. Bandcamp New & Notable Jun 13, 2023
You’d expect an album titled “Velociraptor” to be heavy and this doesn’t disappoint, as it’s jam-packed with serrated noise & feedback. Bandcamp New & Notable Apr 22, 2023
The racket avant-rock/noise group White Suns make is queasy and challenging, but with a taut sense of dynamics and composition. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 19, 2021
Exhilarating, brain-busting, and impossible-to-describe, Godcaster’s songs are a jubilant mix of funk, prog, hardcore, and more. Bandcamp New & Notable Sep 21, 2020
